"Tudo, em todo o lado, ao mesmo tempo": Uma proposta de enquadramento metodológico para garantir que ninguém é deixado para trás na via da transição ecológica. Lições do Projeto Phoenix H2020.
Como garantir que transição ecológica não seja apenas necessária, mas também equitativa, inclusiva e sensível às especificidades locais, assegurando que ninguém nem nada fique para trás neste processo? Foi esta a grande questão que a apresentação de Fátima Alves, Diogo Guedes Vidal e Helena Freitas tentou responder no Transatlantic Symposium on Sustainable Development que aconteceu entre 2-4 outubro no Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, EUA. Tendo por base a sua participação no projeto Europeu Phoenix H2020, as investigadoras e o investigador do Societies and Environmental Sustainability Research Line do Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet, e da sua extensão na Universidade Aberta de Portugal, bem como do Laboratório Associado Terra, apresentaram e refletiram sobre uma proposta metodológica inovadora que procurou identificar as características biológicas, socioculturais, económicas, ambientais e jurídicas de cada território único para abrir caminho para uma transição ecológica equitativa e inclusiva. Isto significa desafiar as soluções convencionais "one size fits all".
"Everything, everywhere, all at once": A methodological framework proposal to ensure no one is left behind in the ecological transition pathway. Lessons from the Phoenix H2020 Project.
How can we ensure that the ecological transition is not only necessary but also equitable, inclusive, and sensitive to local specificities, ensuring that no one and nothing is left behind in this process?This was the central question addressed by the presentation of Fátima Alves, Diogo Guedes Vidal, and Helena Freitas at the Transatlantic Symposium on Sustainable Development held between October 2-4 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Cambridge, USA.Drawing on their participation in the European Phoenix H2020 project, the researchers from the Societies and Environmental Sustainability Research Line at the Centre for Functional Ecology - Science for People & the Planet, and their extension at the Universidade Aberta de Portugal, as well as the Associate Laboratory TERRA, presented and reflected upon an innovative methodological proposal. This proposal aimed to identify the biological, sociocultural, economic, environmental, and legal characteristics of each unique territory, paving the way for an equitable and inclusive ecological transition. This means challenging conventional "one size fits all" solutions.
